Miss Lauren

Lauren began dancing at the age of three in Everett, MA at the Marino Sisters Dance Studio. When she moved to Billerica at 5, she couldn’t stop moving her little feet and was enrolled at Debbie Strang Dance Center . Under the guidance of Debbie Strang and Melissa Pergakis, she studied jazz, tap, ballet, pointe, lyrical, hip-hop, modern, and contemporary. Her passion is for lyrical and jazz. In the summer of 2009, Lauren wanted to continue her passion for dance at Spotlight Dance Academy where she curently is in her 5th year as an Elite Diamond Dancer along with taking multiple classes, assisting, and teaching.

Over the years, Lauren has competed at West Coast Dance Explosion, Dance Ovations, Star Bound, Step Up 2 Dance and Spirit of Dance Awards where she has received golds, high golds, and recently an ultiamte on her solo this summer during the 2013 National Competition in Cape Cod. She has taken master classes with Nick Bowman, Ricky Palamino, Channing Cooke, Chelsea Sebes, Mia Michaels, Sonya Tayeh, and members from the hit television series Dance Moms.

Presently, Lauren is an honor roll student at Shawsheen Technical Regional High School and is going into her senior year. She has been majoring in Business and plans on going to college to become an Event Planner. Outside of school, besides dance, Lauren works at Market Basket where she was promoted to the courtesy booth due to hard work, dedication, and her pleasant ways with customers. Lauren loves dancing so much that she worked extra hours just to attend the Dance Teacher Summit in New York City this past August to perfect her technique and learn different ways of teaching to make sure that her students are getting the best knowledge of dance along with learning the proper placement for their bodies.

As a teacher as Spotlight, Lauren is a great role model for the students to look up to, showing that good grades, dedication, hard work and passion for dance can help you reach you dreams, no matter what they are. Miss Lauren’s motto is “Once reaching your highest point, reach for even more, and never give up.”
