Miss Kate

Kate is excited to get back into teaching dance at Spotlight Dance Academy!

She began dancing at Elaine Quinn Dance Studio in Laconia, NH, and continued with Broadway North School of Performing Arts when Elaine retired and sold her studio.  She studied tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, and ballet, and eventually added ballroom to her roster – even taking ballroom lessons in Greece.

Overall, Kate has been dancing and performing for over 35 years, and ultimately taught all styles of dance for 10 years prior to moving out of NH.  She has studied many styles of dance, including tap, jazz, ballet, modern, and ballroom.  She is a seasoned performer in musical theater, and has held the roles as Dorothy in The Wiz, Velma in Chicago, Eva Peron in Evita, and Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady.  Her most recent production was Funny Girl with the Concord Players in 2019.  As a competitive dancer, she had the opportunity to dance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City when she was 16.  Most recently, she served as the choreographer of the Footloose, Jr production for the Carlisle Middle School 7th Grade Play.

Kate has also been involved with the Miss New Hampshire Program, part of the Miss America Program, as a three time titleholder, and as a judge for 20 years.  She is an interview coach to current titleholders and still volunteers her time to help prepare candidates for their interviews and talent competitions.

Lastly, she is an avid fitness enthusiast and certified NASM Nutrition Coach.

During the day, Kate is an insurance agent, and she holds a BA in Public Communications from Northeastern University.  She is a Carlisle resident, where she lives with her husband, Eric, and two boys, Liam and Quinn.
